Curry leaf

Leaves of trees known as the curry leaf are used as spices. It is a fragrant deciduous tree, with a five-meter height and 15-40cm in diameter. It is mostly cultivated in homes, however, it can be cultivated on an agricultural scale.


The leaf is utilized throughout South India as a natural flavouring agent in many curries. Its volatile oils are utilized to fix soap fragrance. The bark, leaves and roots of the plant are utilized in traditional remedies as a stimulant, tonic as well as a stomachic, carminative.
